Miller
Systems specializes in designing and implementing customized client-server
and/or web-based computer software for a variety of business applications. I
provide project management, business analysis, system analysis, data
warehousing, mentoring, programming, quality control, documentation, and

05/07 – 02/08 for UGL Equis in
Chicago, IL - a firm specializing in representing clients real estate
portfolios and transactions. Using MS
Dynamics GP v8.0 (formerly Great Plains software), SQL Server 2005, SQL Server
Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), I was the
Sr. Analyst and Sr. Developer working with the firm’s financial and IT staff to
create and architect a data warehouse in SQL
Server 2005 to combine data from Great Plains and other in-house systems. I
created reports from the data warehouse tables in SQL Server Reporting Services
to show summary and detail data by sales person, office, region, and by
project, which provided detailed revenue and expense information for
presentation to senior management. I also created integrations between Great
Plains and in-house systems using SQL Server Stored Procedures and Triggers to
automatically update Great Plains with new data on a real-time basis.

Schaumburg, IL - a firm specializing in managing retaiI store-based promotional
campaigns for Fortune-500 Food Manufacturers. Using
SQL Server 2000, MS Dynamics GP v9.0 (formerly Great Plains software), and
Business Objects Crystal Reports v11, I was the Sr. Analyst and Sr.
Developer working with the firm’s financial and IT staff. I developed many new
financial reports, covering Accounts Receivable, Accounts
Payable, General Ledger, and Client and Project Tracking using Crystal
Reports from a new reporting data warehouse that I created based on data from

03/06 – 09/06 (part-time) for a
Firm specializing in IRS Sec. 1031 Real Estate Transfers.
Using SQL Server 2000, and MS Access 2003, I was the sole Sr. Analyst and Sr.
Developer working on developing the entire system from scratch to track
customer relationships, individual transactions, and regulatory requirements, including
database design, data entry form creation, debugging, tuning, and Reporting,
financial reporting aspects of a CRM system for this investment management
firm. This was written in Microsoft Access and SQL Server

Using SQL Server 2000 and Crystal Reports v9 and v11, I was sole analyst, and
developer for this project. I worked with the organization’s Client Services

Order Info Reports, Configuration Reports, and Shipping & Manifests

Using SQL Server 2000, Excel, Access, SQL Server 2000 (including Stored

technical resource for this project. I worked with the firm’s controller to
convert their Peachtree accounting data into the Microsoft Small Business
Manager v7.5 (

worked with the firm’s president to customize a Materials Requirement Planning
(MRP) system that handles all of the firm’s production activities. Since the
client is overseas in

Microsoft Access 2003, I worked with the firm’s owner to develop a system to
gather incoming emails, and apply them directly into the Order Entry /
Accounting System used by the firm. This involved not merely hardcoding
specific search criteria, but designing and implementing a system allowing the user
to set up his own search criteria from a number of different structured and
unstructured data sources, and based on that search, apply the shipping
information to each relevant order.

to 9/03 for Practice Developers of Illinois, Inc., a Medical Practice
Management Company. Using Microsoft Great Plains
v7.5 and FRx reporting tools, the Microsoft CRM package, and Microsoft SQL
Server 2000 database (including Stored Procedures, Views and DTS), Crystal
Reports v8, I was installed and implemented the full Great Plains (including
Report Writer) and MS CRM system for this firm, establishing a revised chart of
accounts, multiple subsidiaries, A/P, A/R interfacing to the GE/Millbrook
Medical Practice Management system, and imported the current financial from the
Intuit Quickbooks package. I also set up workflow processing within the MS CRM
package to implement this firm’s business processes.
I
also mentored the client's Financial Team and IS staff to enable them to
support these applications following completion of this project.

to 5/03 for a Hilco Trading, a Local Liquidation Firm.
Using Microsoft Access XP, I worked with the firm’s financial analyst to build
a deal analysis system enabling them to select deal attributes from a list of
valid attributes, enter financial and other deal-related data into the system,
provided a search capability to identify deals of a like nature, and a
reporting facility to gather consistent financial results from the database.
I
mentored the client's financial analyst and IT staff person to enable them to
support these applications following completion of this project.

to 2/03 for American Bar Association. Using Decisioncast
and Web Analyst Data Warehousing tools, Oracle Financials v11, and Oracle
Database v8.1, with data outputs to XML documents, I was a Sr. Developer for
the team that integrated and implemented this software which for a large-scale
(3 million+ rows) Oracle Data Warehousing system. I created customized reports,
and cleansed the data from Oracle Financials which was transferred into the
data warehouse.
I
was one of the Sr. Developers, and served as business analyst, and senior
technical resource for the Decisioncast development work. I also mentored the
client's IS staff to enable them to support this application.

to 4/02 for Equiguard, Inc. (an insurance firm).
Using Visual Basic 6.0, MS SQL Server 2000 (including Stored Procedures, Views
and DTS), MS Access 2000, MS Excel 2000, Java Server Pages, Crystal Reports v7,
Heat Call Center Software, and AccPac Accounting Package, I was project leader
for the team that installed, integrated, and implemented this software. I
created customizations and add-ons to these packages, as well as converted and
cleaned legacy data from existing systems.
I also developed a contact management system in MS Access 2000, and
created an application that imported Purchase Orders stored in Excel
Spreadsheets into the installation, using Excel 2000 custom code.
I
was the project leader, business analyst, and senior technical resource for the
VB / SQL Server development work, performing the tasks required to implement
the entire application. I also mentored the client's IS staff to enable them to
support this application.

Access 97, Visual Basic 6.0, FrontPage 97, Internet Explorer v4.0, ASP, HTML,
Active-X, Crystal Reports v6, and MS Project 4.0 on Windows 95 and Windows NT
4.0. Working directly with the end-users and IT staff, I created a project
management system that allowed for data entry and reporting on the corporate
intranet. This system is used to manage their projects among their 32 divisions
located around the world.

VB / Internet development work, creating this entire application.

Using MS Access 97, Visual Basic 5.0, and MS Project 4.0 on Windows 95 and
Windows NT 4.0. Working directly with the end-users, I assessed Year-2000
compliance, converted, and redesigned many of their custom applications to
handle the Year 2000 dates properly, and to run them on a 32-bit Windows
platform.

Windows NT 4.0, I designed and programmed a distributed system for creating the
branch-level and consolidated annual budget for the firm, as well as other miscellaneous
projects. Developed interfaces to MS Word, MS Excel and MS SQL Server v6.5.
I was the
project leader, business analyst, and major technical resource for the Access /
VB development work, directly gathering the system requirements from the CFO,
and a number of the partners of the firm. I worked with other members of the
CFO's staff, doing all of the development, a majority of the testing and
delivery work required to create this system.

at Andrew Corp. Using MS Access 2.0 and Visual
Basic on Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, I created the Package Pass Security
System, which controls authorization of removal of items from plant premises.
Allowed pass issuers to issue passes only to certain individuals based on
predefined authorization levels (i.e. department level). I also worked on other
miscellaneous projects including a time-reporting system.
I was the
project leader, business analyst, and the major technical resource for the
Access / VB development work, directly gathering the system requirements from
the department head, doing all of the development, testing and delivery work
required to create this system. As part of this project, I created an Ad-Hoc
report writer that provided easy access to the data for reporting based on any
criteria, with any sort order. I provided weekly status reports to the IS
manager, and gave development cost estimates when necessary.

- 6/96 at Motorola, Inc. Using MS Access 2.0 and Visual
Basic, MS Visio, MS Word, and AutoCad on Windows 3.1, I designed and programmed
the Product Reliability System. This handles the Development of Testing
Standards based upon product type and usage. It also documents the tests to be
performed with many test values automatically calculating based upon predefined
criteria. It also includes a quoting system to determine what the required
series of tests would cost. A scheduling system was also incorporated to
determine if people and equipment would be available in order for the tests to
be completed in time for product release. Another highlight is the ability to
output the reports (including graphics) directly into MS Word documents using
OLE (Active-X) technology.
I was the
project leader, business analyst, and sole technical resource for the Access /
Visual Basic / Word / Visio / Autocad
development work, directly gathering the system requirements from the
department head and the engineering staff, and doing all of the development,
testing, and delivery work in this system. As part of this project, I created
an Ad-Hoc report writer that provided easy access to the data for reporting
based on any criteria, with any sort order.

11/95 - 12/95 at Frankel &
Company. Using MS Access 2.0 and Visual Basic on
Windows 3.1, I designed a "generic" system to handle the needs of
many of their clients. The system handled different client's data in separate
databases, so an Visual Basic routine was programmed which allowed them to
detach from one database and attach to another by simply selecting the client.
I
was working as business analyst and senior developer on a team with the data
processing manager, as well as all of the account managers, delivering contest
reports, promotional item distribution lists, and contest winners on a rapid
basis. Expected turnaround time in this organization was normally measured in
hours, not in man-months.

5/95 - 11/95 at Inland Steel
Corp. Using MS Access 2.0, Visual Basic, MS Word,
and MS Excel on Windows 3.1, I was a team member on the team that completely redesigned
the Labor Management System that previously existed in an MS-DOS database. This
Labor Relations System tracked all outsourcing contracts in order to satisfy
union notification rules. This involved data entry, over 50 complex summary and
detail reports, and interfacing Access data to MS Word and MS Excel.
The
project team consisted of myself as Senior Consultant, and two other
consultants, one of which had no experience in Access, that I had to train. I
created the database design, the data entry forms, created a large number of
reports for this department, trained the users, interfaced with the IS group.
Excel was the tool used for project management, listing the required tasks,
estimated delivery dates, actual delivery dates, and percentage completed
values.

– 4/95 at Bell Land Improvement Co. Using
Microsoft Access V2.0 on Windows 3.1, I was the major technical resource on the
team that designed and programmed a Job Costing System for their small
construction firm. This system provided direct costs and profitability analysis
on all of their various contracts. We exported data from a UNIX-based
accounting package into this application.
